FLS110 flow sensor wins Top21 innovation award

Flusso’s FLS110 mass flow sensor has received another industry award and been named as one of the most ground-breaking innovations this year at the annual #21toWatch Top21 business awards.

The awards, which are designed to recognise seven of the most inspiring individuals, companies and cutting-edge technologies from the East of England science and technology sector were presented at an event in Cambridge last week.

The FLS110 was specifically selected for a Top21 innovation award on account of its small size, low power consumption and other novel features that have made it easier than ever before for manufacturers to add flow sensing features into virtually any of their existing or new products.

It means electronics engineers can now easily integrate accurate flow measurement features into handhelds, such as smart inhalers or fitness monitoring equipment, as well as multiple industrial and consumer applications. Previously it would have impossible for cost reasons or because of lack of space within a product or other design constraints.

In accepting this latest award, Nigel said: "The FLS110 is the first product from Flusso's smart sensor technology platform which will take us into multiple flow and gas sensing markets. Such as environmental sensing to detect CO2 levels for indoor air quality monitoring or to measure hydrogen levels for leakage monitoring."

Cofinitive, the organisers of the #21toWatch Top 21 awards received over 200 submissions this year before shortlisting them and then asking the judging panel to select their overall winners in each category.

This year’s judges included Emmi Nicholl, managing director at Cambridge Angels; Matthew Gooding, news editor at Tech Monitor; and Ruchi Sharma, CEO and founder of Stemnovate, a drug discovery company that’s pioneering organ-on-a-chip technology.
